CEUs for Sponsor Initiated Activity (SIA; Host a CEU-bearing Workshop)

Sponsor Initiated Activities (SIAs) are hosted by a Sponsor and developed in coordination with activity presenter(s), then presented for group instruction or for individual study. Examples include short courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, teleconferences, and distance learning (e.g. continuing education publications, teleconferences, multimedia instruction materials, and programmed learning materials). 

IMPORTANT NOTES: 

• SIAs must be reviewed and submitted to the RID activity database not later than 30 days prior to the commencement of the activity. Requesters must submit the SIA application form received with your purchase not later than 45 days prior to the start of the activity. Late paperwork will not be processed.
• Participants may not accrue CEUs if an activity is mandatory for their job.  No one working the activity, ie interpreting, is eligible for CEUs. Presenters may request GS CEUs the first time they present an activity within their CMP Cycle.
• If the activity's application to interpreting is unclear yet circumstances warrant professional studies credits, the applicant will be required to provide justification describing how attending the activity will improve participants’ interpreting work.
• RID awards 0.1 CEU for every 1 hour spent actively engaged in skill development. CEUs are not always awarded on a 1:1 basis. Your sponsor will work with you to determine the appropriate number of CEUs to be awarded for your workshop.
